Heads of Growth love programmatic SEO. It’s the secret growth playbook used by companies like Zapier, Canva, to acquire millions of users. The problem is, it currently requires work from SEO analysts, content marketers, software engineers, data scientists and others. As a result, it’s logistically complicated and prohibitively expensive. 

Enter daydream – we’re building a SaaS platform that automates every piece of building a programmatic SEO engine. Everything from identifying search queries, to producing 90th percentile quality content at scale, all the way to automatically updating that content.

We've raised $6M+ from leading investors like Basis Set Ventures, First Round Capital, WndrCo, SOMA Capital and Heads of Growth at companies like Notion, Airtable, Webflow and Dropbox. Our early customers include Product Hunt, Notion, Tome and other venture-backed companies.

Our team previously worked together at Flixed, a startup we bootstrapped to $2M+ in revenue, almost purely on the back of programmatic SEO. This time, we’re looking for people who want to join us to build a billion-dollar company.

👷🏻‍♀️ What You’ll Be Doing Here

As daydream’s first marketing hire, you’ll be an evangelist for our programmatic SEO products. We see a tremendous need for education and thought leadership on how SEO leaders can best adapt their strategies for the next generation of search, and we want you to help us chart a path to get there!

As part of your role, you’ll own every part of the marketing funnel, from awareness to conversion, and work across content marketing, SEO (of course), paid search, and other channels. You’ll work closely with a network of freelancers to support you in executing your marketing plan. 

The right candidate for this role will feel comfortable working across various marketing channels and have concentrated experience in SEO. You’ll have stellar written communication skills and be excited about working with a ~10 person team, getting down into the details, and growing into a leadership role as the company scales. We’re looking for candidates with 4-8 years of experience who are somewhere between a senior independent contributor and a manager. 

Ownership Areas

Establish daydream’s position as a thought leader at the forefront of SEO: This includes creating a content calendar with thoughtful essays on the future of search and SEO, producing courses to educate and train the next generation of SEO leaders, and hosting in-person events to assemble leaders in the space.

Optimize our marketing funnel from awareness to conversion: We’ve seen early success through word of mouth and content marketing, but there’s still much to do to drive new leads and convert existing ones. You'll work closely with daydream’s founder and CEO (Thenuka) and GTM Lead (Ellen) to expand on this foundation. 

Expand our channels: We’ve only begun to scratch the surface with our own content efforts and there’s so much more we could be doing. Courses, podcast appearances, search ads, events, and partnerships are all channels that we’d eventually like to experiment with.

Build out a 1-year marketing strategy: You'll develop a cohesive vision for daydream's marketing efforts, align the team around it, and then start executing towards it.

Push the pace

  • No sandbagging allowed! Everyone at daydream is expected to proactively identify when a particular goal can be met faster, and to push for acceleration.

  • A real example of how this value has been applied — we initially thought we would hit a certain revenue milestone within 1 year. We realized we can do it in half the time, so we shortened our timeline to hit that goal to 5 months instead.

Build something you’re proud of

  • Speed of execution is important, but only if it’s in service of delivering a delightful experience to the customer. We want you to look back at what you’ve built at daydream and feel a deep sense of satisfaction.

  • A real example of how this value has been applied — In the past, we’ve prioritized “wowing” the customer at each release of daydream, even at the earliest phases. Speed is no excuse for delivering a poor experience.

Five star customer service only

  • The bar for customer service at daydream is always exceeding the customer’s expectations. It is not “meeting” the customer’s expectations.

  • A real example of how this value has been applied — We’ve had situations where the customer is unintentionally moving slower than is possible with their SEO strategy. In these situations, we’ve proactively encouraged the customer to move faster.

🤝 The people you’ll be working with

Thenuka (CEO): Thenuka was previously the founder and CEO at Flixed, which he bootstrapped to $2M+ in revenue almost exclusively using programmatic SEO. Prior to that he was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Hustle Fund and Chief of Staff to the COO at Pango, a cybersecurity company with $100M+ in annual revenue.

Shravan (CTO): Shravan was previously an Engineering Lead at Flixed. Before that, Shravan worked as a Software Engineer at Facebook for three years, where he worked on mass-scale web scraping for Facebooks’ Jobs product, and Meta Reality Labs.

Wesley (Chief of Staff): Wesley previously spearheaded growth initiatives at Hustle Fund’s Angel Squad, and before that, worked at Montage Partners. Additionally, he ran his own consulting business focusing on audience growth.

🏦 Compensation

The compensation for this role is a $140K—$160K base salary plus generous equity in daydream. We expect employees to be in our San Francisco office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
