I’m very excited to announce that daydream will be launching A.I.O (AI optimization) services for new and existing customers moving forward.

What is A.I.O?

A.I.O is the successor to SEO, measuring the ranking, visibility, and performance across answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini.

AI answer engines still serve a very small fraction of search queries relative to Google, but they’re growing rapidly. To put this in context, Google serves 8.5 billion queries each day while Perplexity just announced passing 100M search queries per week.

Similarweb estimates that Perplexity grew from 57M visits per month in August of 2024 to 90.78M in October, growing ~20% month over month.

What should brands do to adapt today?

While Google will likely remain the primary organic search traffic channel for virtually all companies in the near future, it’s important for businesses to track how they’re appearing in AI answers now as traffic sent through AI answer engines continues to compound.

To this end, we believe the most important data points to track are:

  1. What queries their brand is being surfaced for.
  2. What percentage of the time their brand appears for those search queries.
  3. Who their primary competition is, and where they place relative to those competitors.
  4. How much traffic they’re currently getting from AI answer engine sources.
